A Table Above the Clouds

There's a moment mid-event, usually between the toasts and the dancing, when the terrace goes quiet for a second — the moment a long table of strangers has properly become one table of friends. We got to watch that moment happen a lot this August.

Private events have grown into their own rhythm here: a set menu decided together beforehand, the room dressed simply, and the kitchen timing its courses to the sunset rather than the clock. Some parties stay till the last chair is folded; the record so far belongs to a fortieth birthday that ended as the gondola opened.
